Ian joined St. James's Place as a Partner Practice in 2006 and became a senior Partner Practice in 2018 having focused on financial planning to individuals and families who value authentic, long-term trusted relationships. Today, that commitment to those values continues across the team of Senior Partner Ian and primary adviser Graeme.

Our office is situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, in Wirksworth otherwise known as “The Gem of the Peak” and previously listed in the top 10 places to live in Derbyshire in 2025.

We are flexible to our clients' needs' and many visit our town centre office or travel to clients homes or arrange virtual meetings. We aim to take the stress out of finances by making clients feel at ease in their surroundings, reinforcing our goals of being approachable, friendly and caring – on hand when we are required.

The Practice became a family business in 2019 when the next generation, daughter Ayesha joined the team as Practice Manager and began looking after clients new and old. Soon after in 2020, Ayesha’s husband Graeme joined the team, their arrival strengthened our ability to provide truly intergenerational financial planning — guiding families not just for today, but for the decades ahead.

As Ian is looking to pass on to the next generation, Graeme now leads the advice relationship for many of our clients. He provides empowering financial planning with particular expertise in intergenerational wealth, retirement, investment and inheritance planning. We are focused on employee development and Will, our former client administrator will soon become a SJP qualified adviser in August 2026 who will join Graeme, providing our clients with the long-standing, holistic advice they have always received from us.
